Plastimo 30th Anniversary Regatta

Portugal's largest regatta returned to the Tagus River.

The Siroco Group, the exclusive representative of the Plastimo brand in Portugal since 1994, is preparing to celebrate three decades of activity with the return of one of the country’s most memorable sailing events: the 2024 Plastimo Regatta.

The Return of a Historic Event

After a hiatus of nearly 20 years, the Plastimo Regatta returns to the Tagus River on September 21, 2024. The last edition, held in 2003, brought together 152 sailboats and about 1,500 participants, making it the largest national regatta of the time and a true spectacle for those watching from the Lisbon coastline.

The 2024 edition is part of the Siroco Group’s 30th-anniversary celebrations, reinforcing its role in revitalizing sailing in Portugal and promoting the sport among different generations.

Starting in Belém, the regatta will follow a triangular course to Algés, passing through Cais do Sodré and returning to the starting point, where the final standings will be determined.

Participation is open to all sailors, with no age or nationality restrictions, and to any type of sailing vessel—from traditional Tagus boats to large catamarans.

Partnerships That Make a Difference

The 2024 Plastimo Regatta is supported by Nissan Portugal as its main sponsor, which will provide exclusive prizes to be raffled off among participants.

Also noteworthy is the partnership with United to Remake, a startup focused on reducing waste and transforming waste through recycling and upcycling, reinforcing the event’s environmental commitment.

More than just a competition, the Plastimo Regatta aims to raise awareness about ocean conservation and promote sustainable practices within the sailing community, in line with the principles of the circular economy.

Socializing and sharing experiences

After the regatta, participants will be invited to an exclusive awards cocktail reception at the Tapada da Ajuda Exhibition Pavilion, in a festive atmosphere featuring music, food, and drinks.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category, and there will also be raffles for products, experiences, and other giveaways among all participants.

This social aspect reflects the ongoing commitment of the Siroco Group, which, over the past 30 years, has fostered unity within the sailing community by organizing numerous events. Initiatives such as the Plastimo Regatta encourage the sharing of experiences among sailors and help strengthen bonds within the community.
