Excess 11 Wins Award at Cannes

Measuring 11.42 meters in length and 37 feet, the Excess 11 was designed to combine the characteristics of a true cruising catamaran with a more dynamic and engaging sailing experience.

Among the features that set this model apart are the two helm stations at the stern, which provide a more direct connection to the sea and the rest of the crew, while maintaining good visibility and control while sailing. The model was designed to offer space and comfort on board without compromising its sailing capabilities.

One of the features of this new generation of the Excess 11 is its hybrid version, which combines a generator with two 10-kW electric motors powered by lithium batteries.

This system allows for quiet maneuvering in ports and marinas, sailing in all-electric mode under certain conditions, and using the generator when greater range is needed. The hybrid system was developed by Excess with the goal of providing a quieter, more efficient, and more environmentally responsible boating experience.

This recognition comes at a particularly important time for the Excess 11. In 2026, Excess also unveiled a vessel built using a combination of Elium® recyclable resin, low-carbon resin, and 45% recycled fiberglass.

According to the brand, this is a world first in the production catamaran segment, paving the way for a more circular approach to boat building, including the possibility of recycling composite materials at the end of their useful life.

This approach demonstrates that innovation in the Excess 11 is not limited to the onboard experience: it also extends to the way the boat itself is designed and produced.

The 2026 Innovation Route Award thus recognizes various aspects of the Excess 11’s evolution—from its configuration and sailing experience to its propulsion solutions and the new avenues explored in catamaran construction.
