Nominated for the European Yacht of the Year Award

Created by the German magazine YACHT and awarded by a jury of twelve specialized publications from twelve European countries, the European Yacht of the Year is one of the industry’s most respected awards. The juries test the boats at sea and do not evaluate them solely on paper. The trials take place in mid-October off the coast of Palma de Mallorca. The judges evaluate handling at sea, deck functionality, performance in rough seas, and the quality of the finishes. The winners will be announced in January 2027 at boot Düsseldorf.

For the first time on a Lagoon under 60 feet, the salon opens directly onto the forward cockpit, giving the boat a second outdoor living space that faces the horizon.

This design choice helps explain why the Lagoon 47, unveiled in September at the Cannes Yachting Festival, is among the 21 finalists for the 2027 European Yacht of the Year award. In October, twelve specialized journalists will test it at sea off the coast of Palma de Mallorca, and the verdict will be announced in January. It is the successor to the Lagoon 46, one of the most successful catamarans of the past decade. To design it, VPLP and Nauta Design drew on more than 200 suggestions from owners.

It’s the first major innovation in a new generation of the Sun Odyssey line, and the jury for the 2027 European Yacht of the Year award took notice. The 455 is one of the few mass-produced models among the 21 finalists and will be tested in October off the coast of Palma, Mallorca. The design firms Marc Lombard and Piaton Yacht Design equipped it with twin rudders for greater control and placed the winches within the helmsman’s reach, so that a single person can maneuver the yacht.

Below deck, large hull windows flood the interior with light, and the U-shaped galley is designed for serious cooks. Configurations range from three to five cabins. The Siroco Group represents Jeanneau in Portugal and helps each customer choose the right configuration.
