Doreen and Nicolas, mother and son, accompanied by two other family members, decided to change their lives and set off in search of adventure aboard the Vitamin Sea, their Lagoon 42. They have been sailing together for more than 18 months, searching for the hidden treasures of the Atlantic.

Their story began well before they set sail. Four years earlier, they laid the groundwork for the family’s grand plan: to cross the Atlantic.

It was at the Düsseldorf Boat Show that the dream began to take shape. Charmed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere at the Lagoon booth, they quickly became interested in the Lagoon 42 and the Lagoon 46. They ultimately chose the Lagoon 42, a model that inspired confidence and offered the safety they needed for the long crossing.

Doreen confided in us:

“I asked the person who showed me the boat, ‘If there’s an emergency and I fall overboard, will I be able to climb back on board?’ He replied that, with the wide aft deck, we’d always be safe. That was my worst-case scenario, and it ended up being ruled out.”

Since then, the adventure has been filled with unforgettable stops and moments shared among the four of us. The catamaran has become much more than a boat: it’s a true floating refuge. Every member of the family has adapted to life on board.

For Nicolas, there’s nothing better than watching the sunset from the spacious aft deck and the spectacle of the water flowing beneath the hull. For Doreen, every memory on board is precious, but some stand out.

“When we started our Atlantic crossing, it was Nicolas who caught the first fish, a huge mahi-mahi… It was an incredible moment!”

“I remember very well when we were in the British Virgin Islands and I caught my first lobster!” added Nicolas.

On board our boat, we make friends—we share this passion for sailing. And when we meet these people, the connection is immediate.

They also cherish the memory of sailing into the Caribbean, where the Lagoon seemed to be heading straight for paradise, and of cruising through the Exumas, with their crystal-clear waters and endless shades of blue.

But beyond the scenery, what touched them most was the Lagoon community.

“If we have any questions, we can always ask for help. That’s the great Lagoon family. We’re surrounded and supported, no matter what our issue may be.”

In fact, over time, they’ve formed a strong bond with the Lagoon community. From their very first interactions with the team, a relationship of trust was established. Their relationship with the shipyard has grown stronger over time, and they appreciate the friendliness and approachability of the brand’s representatives. On social media, they’ve also managed to forge strong bonds with others who share their passion for sailing.

Today, their Lagoon 42 is much more than just a boat: it’s the setting for their adventures, their memories, and their most cherished encounters.
